Day 5: Thursday 2nd of August at Z Camp.
Yet another day, jam packed with action, smiles and giggles. We started the day making our own sandwiches in preparation for the full day excursion. It’s fair to say we took a gamble with the weather, but we lucked out! We took a river boat down the Veleka river which was a great opportunity to look at the wildlife (turtles, herons) and had a fantastic tour guide telling us about the river and what makes it so special.
The calm boat ride along Veleka river came to an abrupt end when Stoyan handed each of the boats some water pistols as if to say, ‘let the war commence’. And so it did! It was an epic water fight! We then went to the beach, but with the choppy sea, and it being given a red flag, we saw it as an opportunity to have our picnic. After lunch we had a surprise in store for the kids. We took them to where Bulgaria meets Turkey at the mouth of the river Rezovska. Strange to think that it was a little river separating two massively different countries. The kids seemed to really appreciate it.
When arriving back to camp, the kids had another opportunity to burn of their seemingly endless energy with our multisport options, where volleyball, footbal, tennis and table tennis were all on offer.
After what can only be described as a delicious dinner, the kids were eager to get back to their music workshop. Where they decided on whether they wanted to be part of the choir, the dance crew, beatboxers or guitarists. You MUST watch the videos.
Everybody shone. It was certainly one of the many highlights of my 6 weeks here at camp.
