Saturday, 10 August, Z CAMP 2019
This weeks group has been small but perfectly formed. They’ve really captured the Z camp spirit of being together as part of an extended family. We’ve seen older kids looking after and motivating younger kids, a healthy mutual respect between Z staff and Z campers, and nascent friendships born.
Waving goodbye
So it was that the revolving doors opened once again and we said goodbye to those leaving after 2 weeks at camp. After waving goodbye, those few remaining went into English class with me. Despite resistance at first, it was Saturday morning after all, the kids participated in a reflection exercise where they wrote a journal of the week at camp.
Kids wrote about their experience at Z-camp
How has camp has made them think differently, what things they most enjoyed and what would they change about camp if they were responsible. It’s a good exercise for kids to pause for a second and contemplate what they’ve experienced at the mid-way point of camp, and take a moment to appreciate it.
Multisports
In the afternoon, kids remaining went off to a nearby beach, where they enjoyed Kayaking, Catamaran, and paddle boarding. They also fished out a hat out of the sea which has been adopted by our Dungeons and Dragons master, “Peshu”.
