Our vocabulary word for today is bittersweet, defined as: “arousing pleasure tinged with sadness or pain”. There’s really no word that better captures a day where we have to say goodbye to new friends, comforted by the knowledge that it won’t be a permanent goodbye. So we sent our first group of campers on to the rest of their Summer, and we look forward to seeing them next year.
Ropes course in Tsarevo
For those that are only a week in, we had an afternoon excursion to a ropes course in Tsarevo. First we did a kind of obstacle course that was (speaking from personal experience) not nearly as easy as it looked. While a few of the kids flew through it with no problem, the rest of us are sure to be sore for the next few days. Next up were the zip line and the “leap of faith”, which are best explained in photos. However, those who had been before had told us that the ropes course was fun, but that the burgers were not to be missed, so before heading back for dinner we had to taste them for ourselves. Reviews were mixed.
After dinner it was time for...games again
After dinner it was time for our Z Camp custom treasure hunt. The boys team was out of the gate with impressive energy, but it was the girls with their more measured approach who finished first. And that was it. A blog post can’t do it justice, but that’s fine. The smiles and tears already said it all.
