It’s excursion day! Everyone is excited for our trip to Bourgas and the visit to see some amazing sand sculptures and soak up some history at the museum.
The incredible sand sculptures at Burgas
After some breakfast, we all collected our things and were on our way. First stop was the city of incredible sand sculptures. Campers and staff alike were amazed at the size and amount of detail of each and every sculpture. The theme of all of the beautiful creations was Cartoons; from Lilo and Stitch, Hotel Transylvania and Shrek, to a very impressive take on Cinderella. The Cinderella exhibition really took all our breaths away! An incredibly impressive and detailed castle stood tall above us all with everyone exclaiming how they would ‘love to go inside!’ Everyone was ranking their most favourite sculptures which eventually turned into a game of guessing each other’s top 3!

After some refreshments of ice cream and lemonade, the z-campers headed into Bourgas center for a little stroll before finding some lovely shade to enjoy some lunch. When we were all suitably full, the museum was on our radar! The Egyptians, the theme of our week, was now the highlight of our excursion. Sculptures, jewelry and sarcophagus’s adorned a wonderfully laid out exhibition. The main focus was the young Egyptian Pharaoh, Tutankhamun, which the campers completed a quiz on. All the clues were hidden somewhere in the exhibition, so in groups, the z-campers hunted for the answers.
Arts & Crafts
After learning more about this ancient civilization, we all headed back to camp. On arrival, everyone practiced what they had learnt with a bit of arts and crafts. Pyramids were painted onto large pieces of material, ready for the evening activity: Fashion Show! After showcasing their artistic abilities, a relaxing soak in the pool was all that was needed!

An amazing day was completed with an incredible evening event. In groups, the z-campers created fantastic Egyptian costumes using a variety of materials. Toilet roll mummies, glamorous Cleopatra’s and even a Nefertiti strutted their stuff on the catwalk, posing in front of their wonderfully painted pyramid. We were all blown away with the creativeness and energy of all the campers. After a quick rendition of ‘Walk like an Egyptian’, everyone was off to bed to dream about our wonderful day.
