A trip to the Beach, an English class, Afternoon games and Disco evening – sounds like a lot of Fun!
Today was the kids last day at Z camp, and we began the day with a trip to the Beach as the past few days unpredictable weather had meant this daily ritual had been temporarily stopped.
In English lessons we wrapped up our Space theme we have been doing all week, and kids came up with postcards from Outer space to family back on Earth, as well as discussions on space travel and life on other planets.
It’s been interesting to see kids take on English vocabulary related to different themes during their stay at Z camp, moving beyond words they learn at school to being able to contribute to a wider conversation.
The afternoon were organized games on the sand volleyball court, and due to differing sizes and ages, there were some hilarious moments as kids did various games, Wheelbarrow races, water bottle towel challenge, tug of war. There was also time for a staff tug of war where the under 30‘s took on the more mature of age among us. Needless to say it turns out that brawn is sometimes more effective than brains!
In the evening the kids showed off their dance moves at the Z camp Disco, and this proved the perfect activity to release the last of their reserves of energy.
They went to bed tired, emotional and reflective that the past few weeks has been filled with fun, discovery and sharing.
