Wow… just wow. What a brilliant day. After preparing our packed lunch, we set off on our full day excursion. We started off with a nice cultural trip to the wonderful Beglik Tash. Here, the kids were given the opportunity to learn in depth about this historical sight. Firstly in English, then in Bulgarian. The staff had put together some fascinating facts, they were asking lots of questions and no doubt, the kids got a lot from it.
It was then time to go on our fortnightly river boat trip along Veleka river where we had the opportunity to really experience the stunning and untouched wildlife. We even visited “Baba Yaga’s cave”.
The tranquil scenery was then brought to an abrupt end when we reached the mouth of the river. Upon realizing that it was a red flag, it soon became apparent that going into the sea wasn’t going to be an option, so decided to have some fun in the Veleka river, swimming, flipping and playing. It’s safe to say, those relaxing on the sand certsibly knew that Z Camp had arrived. When it came to heading back, we were met by the two captains who had provided each boat with water pistols ready for a water fight of epic proportion. A fab end to a memorable afternoon.
Knowing that the kids had had an action packed and long day in the sun, we decided to have a movie night where they watched the classic “The Goonies,” (a must watch if you haven’t already). Naturally this was seen as an opportunity for them to feed their faces full of goodies such as sweets, crisps and popcorn. The amount of food these kids eat is incredible.
Thank you to all involved. This excursion is always a firm favourite among staff and students alike.
