Easy like Sunday morning...
Sunday is a relaxed day at Z camp, with campers who have had an action packed week finding some time to recharge before the new group of kids arrive in the evening. The trip to the beach was exactly what staff and kids needed; time in the ocean and some time to doze in the early morning sunshine or for those still with energy to burn throw a frisbee disc or volleyball around.
A present for Stoyan
Tim led an Arts & crafts activity after lunch, in which kids made decorative sea shell designs, including one especially made for Stoyan which really made his day!
Anticipation grows
As excitement grew with the imminent arrival of the new kids, and curiosity got the better of the current campers “ how is my new roommate going to be like, will they like the same things as me”, there was also small groups playing games like Jenga, Dixit and Codenames. It’s a sign of a good camp when kids can play between themselves with very little instruction, and Sunday afternoon was a good example of this.
Ice – Breakers
The evening was all about the ice-breakers, it’s an important part of the camp to establish the first connection between kids which will deepen as the week goes on. Friendships always start somewhere and Sunday night ice-breakers for many is the first step in making new friends. The spirit of Z camp was evident with staff and kids alike participating in the get-to-know-you games, led by Tim and we went to bed tired (esp for those who had long journeys to get to camp) but happy.
Who knows what the next week will bring? But I do know something.. is that Z camp is the place I’d want to be if I was a kid in my summer holidays!
